Training Day

Once a year the Emperor would take the Primarchs to the large training complex used by all of the Legions. They would have a small group of their legionaries, typically two to four, join them for a training day. It was also a time for them to learn about their Legion and what they were doing. Zephyr glanced around nervously at the gathering of other Space Marines. He wasn't the only neophyte, but that didn't make him feel much better about his situation. Luther and Corswain were also there. The Lion would duel Corswain while Luther told him about what the Dark Angels were up to. Zephyr was there because the Lion had requested him. He tried to focus on the fact that he was going to be able to show his friend his impressive shooting. Eidolon checked his sword, despite knowing that it was perfect. He had the honor of dueling Fulgrim. Lucius would deliver the logistics report. Fabius Bile was the third for the Emperor's Children. He looked decidedly like he wanted to be any...

Catachan Devil Peppers

All Imperial worlds were required to submit a tithe to the Imperium. It was drawn from the resources and population of the world. The initial tithe was what some referred to as a "sample platter", meaning that it was an exhibition of the different resources the planet had, whether it was in abundance or not. This initial tithe was used to determine what was to be taken in future tithes from the planet. This did mean that there were occasionally some very strange things found in initial tithes as the planet tried to show off what made it unique in the galaxy. The Emperor often showed the Primarchs the various odd things found in these tithes. Occasionally these odd items included food, either crops or examples of local dishes. The Primarchs always insisted on trying them when this happened. When Catachan joined the Imperium, they had designated a ship to carry a full year's harvest of Catachan devil peppers to be part of their initial tithe. The people of Catachan stat...

Wild Wild West

"Come check out what we just built, Valdor!" Perturabo said excitedly, grabbing and tugging on the Custodian's hand. None of the Primarchs could actually drag Valdor, though Vulkan was getting to the point where he could unbalance Valdor if he tried. "What have you all been working on?" Valdor asked. Everyone was aware that the Primarchs had been on some sort of project, but no one was sure what. It was the first thing the Primarchs had kept away from their father since the encounter with the Klingons and the Enterprise over two months ago. "We've been trying to recreate a holodeck," Perturabo said. "We've gotten a little help from Cawl, but we don't think he's figured out what he was helping us with." "I thought that Kirk's Enterprise didn't have a holodeck," Valdor said. "His doesn't," Perturabo agreed. "But it made us think of Picard's, and thought it would be fun to try....

Baby Primarchs: Bathtime

The Emperor did a fourth head-count on his sons. It was bath day, and he was trying to make absolutely sure that he had them all. Normally he bathed his 21 sons on four consecutive days, but he had to go off-world the next day. He didn't want to leave Malcador with the onerous task of bathing the Primarchs. His biggest concern was keeping them all in the bathroom. He had left the door open to provide ventilation, and keep the temperature in the room down. This did leave an avenue of escape for his naked, energetic sons. As if realizing his concern, he was short a few Primarchs. He sighed in frustration as he stepped out of the bathroom to look for the escapees. This caused the others to flow out of the bathroom, and escape the residence. All 21 Primarchs vanished in the space of a few heartbeats. The Emperor groaned as he began the search for his hiding sons. They were 3-years old, and were living up to the idea of the "terrible threes" as much as they had been the ...

Star Trek

The Imperator Somnium shuddered under the massed volley of energy shots. The fleet of xenos ships were close to overloading the void shields around the great ship. An interstellar phenomena had brought the Imperator Somnium out of the warp to investigate, which led to the ambush by what looked to be Klingon ships. They weren't travelling with a fleet as this was meant as a quick trip off world to check out a geological event on a world that had just joined the Imperium. The phenomena caught their attention nearly a week out from their destination. "Malcador, take the Primarchs and make for the savior pods," the Emperor said. "I'll send the bank of them out to cover you. Get away from the fleet and get reinforcements." "Yes, lord," Malcador said, he didn't look happy with the assignment, but he understood. "Primarchs." Horus stayed a moment, looking up at the Emperor who had turned back to the tacticarium display to make his ...
