One of the issues with a galaxy-spanning, secular society was that it became difficult to come up with a unified day of celebration. Individual planets of course had celebrations of their compliance dates, and the worlds the Primarchs chose as their own had special celebrations for that. But it left nothing for the Imperium as a whole to come together over. Finally it was agreed that the official birth of the Imperium would be used as Imperium Day. This was counted as the date the Treaty of Olympus was signed. There were a few days around it that security was even tighter than normal around, and inside the Palace.
